Obituary

Barbara Ann Davis

Barbara Ann (Studlick) Davis , beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024 at the age of 82 after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at hospice in Pottsville.

Barbara was born on August 22, 1941 in Frackville, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph S. and Josephine A. (Vinsky) Studlick. She grew up in a tight-knit Polish/Lithuanian family alongside her siblings, forging bonds that would last a lifetime. Barbara graduated from Frackville High School. Her fine piano skills and her love of music led her to attending Bloomsburg College.

Barbara was a devoted single mother to her children, John, Daryl, and Jeff and a devoted grandmother to her grandson Aaron, whom she raised and resided with. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding them, instilling in them values of compassion and resilience. Her children and grandson were her pride and joy and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She worked at the Ashland Hospital, Schuylkill County Justice Office, PP&L, and for the State of Pennsylvania. In her later years she worked part-time at Boyer's Food Market to continue chatting with people.

Throughout her life, Barbara was known for being happy and her generous spirit and unwavering commitment to helping others. She dedicated many hours to St. John's Polish National Church and the Wesleyan Church Clothing Pantry striving to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate and making new friends. Barbara had a soft spot for homeless cats and adopted and loved many of them in her lifetime. Her kindness and compassion touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on her community.

Barbara is survived by her sons, John and his wife Maureen, Frackville; Daryl and his wife Jean, Ringtown and Jeff Davis and his partner Samantha of Mercersburg; her grandson and light of her life, Aaron; her siblings, Joyce Hatch, Butler, PA and Joe Studlick, Portsmouth, RI; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Barbara will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 21st at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Church, Frackville. A viewing for friends will be held on Wednesday evening, March 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, 501 Washington Street Frackville. There will be no viewing on Thursday morning. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Frackville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made, in Barbara's name, to the Hillside SPCA at PO Box 233 Pottsville, PA 17901.

May she rest in peace, knowing that she was dearly loved and will not be forgotten.
