Anthony J. Billus, 87, of Frackville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9th, at Shenandoah Senior Living Community after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Maizeville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Motel) Billus. Anthony was a 1956 graduate of Gilberton High School. Following his graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country honorably prior to receiving his discharge.
Anthony was employed at Zapata Industries for many years until its closing. He later worked as a delivery driver for Albarrell Electric, where he remained until his retirement.
Anthony loved going to the movies, listening to oldies music from the 50's and 60's and had a deep and lifelong love for baseball. He was a proud member of the Gilberton Orange Buds and later played for many years in the Frackville men’s softball league. Whether playing on the field or cheering from the sidelines, baseball was a constant source of joy in his life. He cherished the camaraderie of his teammates, the competition of the game, and the simple pleasure of spending time outdoors at the ballfield. His passion for the sport remained with him throughout the years, and he rarely missed an opportunity to talk about a game, share a story, or support his favorite teams. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.
He was a member of the Frackville American Legion Post 398.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Joseph, Richard, and Edward Billus.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn (Halaburda) Billus of Frackville; his daughter, Amy Bevan and her husband, Jeffrey, of Ashland; his son, Anthony C. Billus, of Frackville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16th, at 11 a.m. from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville.
