Annette E.
Speidel
Oct 9, 1936 — Jul 23, 2026
Frackville
Annette Elizabeth Speidel, 89, of Frackville, passed away peacefully on July 23rd surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Shenandoah on October 9, 1936, she was the daughter of Michael and Ann Sullivan.
She was a graduate of West Mahanoy Township High School in Shenandoah Heights, Class of 1954. Her hard work and dedication followed her right out of high school to Bell Telephone, where she first started as a Long-Distance Operator in Philadelphia; later transferring to Frackville’s location working as a local telephone operator, long distance operator and a directory assistance operator until the location closed then transferring to Hazelton where she retired after 40 years of service.
Annette was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, a joyful spirit with so much strength and resilience that was admired by everyone that got the pleasure of meeting her. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A dedicated member of the Zion Lutheran Church, she found immense comfort, community, and purpose in her church family. When she wasn’t serving her church or spending time with her loved ones, Annette could be often found shouting “Bingo!” at her weekly games or enthusiastically cheering on her beloved Philadelphia Phillies.
Above all, Annette cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her warmth, humor, and endless support were the heartbeat of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John E. Speidel in 2004; five brothers; nine sisters and her grandson, Robert Wetzel.
She is survived by her son, John Speidel and his companion Kim; daughters: Donna Wetzel and Darlene; sister, Ann Opanel; grandchildren: Philip, Eric, Johnny, Brittany, Trevor and Ashley; great grandchildren, Kianna, Erica, Zach and Sophia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Private funeral and graveside services will be held for Annette.
