Adam Sedar
Adam Sedar, Ashland, former Lifelong Frackville resident, died Saturday morning at the Veterans Administration hospital, Lebanon.
Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late Michael and Eva " Machita " Sedar . He had worked as a coal miner in several area collieries and later worked for several years as a forklift operator at the former Frackville block plant.
He was an Army veteran of WW II, having flown over 50 missions, as an engineer/gunner on a B-24 with the 450th Bomb Group. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years the former Frances M. "Lipshaw" Sedar in 2007, also by a brother Wassyl Sedar and four sisters; Mary Frudge, Kay Sedar, Helen Palmer and Eva Kobilnyk.
Adam is survived by his daughter Lisa Ann and her husband Thomas McGinn, Ashland, his two sons Adam ( Linda ) Sedar, Frackville and Francis ( Louanne ) Sedar, Richmond, VA, five grandchildren; Rev. Adam C. Sedar, Minersville, Jessie and Thomas McGinn, Ashland, Scott L. Bennett, Frackville and Kimberly Ann Sedar, VA., three brothers; Michael Sedar, Tamaqua, John Sedar, Frackville and Paul Sedar, Pottsville, his sister Ann Sedar, Frackville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville, with his grandson, Rev. Adam C. Sedar, as the celebrant. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family prefers contributions, in Adam's name, be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville.
